Antibacterial and antifungal powders, lotions and ointments are good to have around during the monsoons. Always go for the good, ol’ natural ingredients in your skin and bath care. Synthetics can actually cause irritation and do more harm to your skin as well as the environment in the long run.
Cleansing & Exfoliating
Wash your face twice daily and no more than that. Exfoliate at least twice a week to deep-clean and unclog your pores. For dry skin, use a mild cleanser and exfoliate with a scrub of almond meal and honey, which is an excellent humectant. If you are prone to oily skin, choose a cleanser with salicylic acid, a papaya pulp face mask or an oatmeal scrub for removing excess sebum.
Toning

For dry skin, add a few drops of pure chamomile oil in milk. For oily skin, add a few drops of lavender essential oil in water. Dip a cotton ball and gently cleanse your face. You can also spritz on rose water to use as a toner.
Moisturising
Whatever the season, moisturising is an essential step throughout the year. For dry skin, use a hydrating moisturiser to keep your skin supple and glowing. If you have acne-prone skin,moisturising apply a lightweight, water-based moisturiser to keep sebum secretion in control.
Blot, Don’t Touch
Avoid touching your face as it can result in a transfer of bacteria and grime from your fingers, and lead to a breakout or skin irritation. Instead, use a blotting paper to absorb excess oil and sweat and keep your skin clean and shine-free.
Protect With Sunscreen
Just because it’s cloudy or you can’t feel the sun as harshly, doesn’t mean you’re not affected by UV radiation. UV rays are in fact at their peak during the monsoon months. Always step out wearing a water-resistant, broad spectrum sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30.
Choosing The Right Makeup
During this humid season, heavy makeup can clog your pores and lead to irritation. It’s best to go sans makeup to allow your skin to breathe. Whenever you choose to wear any, stick with non-comedogenic and lightweight products. Make sure to remove all your water-proof makeup with a cleansing oil at the end of the day.
Storing Your Makeup
Bacteria and fungus tend to thrive in dampness, so store your makeup and seal your makeup brushes properly in a hygienic, dry place. If your product smells funny or if there’s any discolouration, get rid of it right away.
Hydrate & Eat Right
